John Karegwa is a senior NGO management professional and development leader based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, with over 20 years of experience designing, managing, and advising large-scale national and international development programmes. His career spans leadership and consultancy roles across the NGO sector and multilateral institutions, with extensive experience managing donor-funded interventions supported by UNDP, UNICEF, the European Union (Erasmus+), Hivos Netherlands, UK Aid, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. His work cuts across programme design, institutional development, partnerships, and impact-driven implementation.
John currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the EU–Africa Chamber of Commerce (EACC), where he leads efforts to promote trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Africa and the European Union. He is also the Convenor of the Invest in Africa Summit, an annual investment-focused platform held in the Netherlands that connects African opportunities with European investors and stakeholders. In addition to his executive leadership, John collaborates closely with investment firms, venture capitalists, governments, not-for-profit organisations, and international agencies whose missions align with inclusive growth. He is a strong and consistent advocate for gender equity and financial inclusion, positioning enterprise and investment as tools for sustainable development across Africa and beyond.
